We decided to relocate our Sense Garden to a smaller plot situated in a relaxing corner of Vintage Gardens. This move freed up a larger plot for Mrs. Cruz's 2nd graders. Our Senses Garden is filled with plants to please the sense such as Rosemary, Curry Plant, and Apple-Mint Germanium. We have other plants that are fun to touch or just beautiful to look at. Stop by and check out this special corner of our school garden.

The 4th Grade Garden club added more lettuce and some pansy flowers to their plot. Mrs. Ratner and Mrs. Buck worked on amending their classroom plot soil along side club members. There still remained a lot of cleaning to do from summer so club members helped with removing debris to beautify Vintage Gardens.
Much cleaning still needs to be done in the Vintage Gardens. So half of us will clean and the other half will start planting vegetables in our 4th Grade Garden Club plot. Those who don't get to plant this week will get to plant next week.
We learned that plants can't be planted too deep or they will smother and rot. The can't be planted to high up or they will dry out. Most plants like to be planted with their root ball level with the top of the planter soil. We also learned that preparing the soil is important. Mrs. Stone showed us the soil amendment to make our soil nutritious to the plants. Check out our photos in the Memories menu for 2013-14 school year on this website. The new school year has started and our school garden is in need of some attention. Leaves, weeds and debris need to be removed. Garden plots need to be prepared for this year's planting. With the help of our 4th Grade Garden club members, the garden will soon be looking lush, inviting, and productive again. Remember to visit this years 2013-14 Photo gallery
